Overview | TCA Arabia | TCA Asia Pacific | TCA Europe

Working with a panel of industry experts and consultants GRAS has developed the criteria for each awards category. The development of these criteria is an important part of the awards process, as it helps to ensure that spa operators are entering an awards category that accurately reflects their offerings and defines their business goals and achievements. The awards categories encompass an array of spa experiences: from resort/hotel, destination, day spas and academies, along with targeted recognition for best practice in human resources and training and industry contribution.

The Crystal Awards (TCA) aim to:

  • honour excellence regardless of size
  • self-perpetuate ongoing improvement in standards within the industry
  • set benchmarking standards that guide the consumer in making an informed choice amongst the best
  • define indicators of excellence to drive the industry forward in its expansion and development and guide future investors in the industry

What is a 'SPA'?

To qualify for some categories, a particular establishment must embrace TCA’s definition of a ‘spa’. We define a ‘spa’ as a place where:

  • A person goes to improve their wellness in body, mind and spirit.
  • A variety of professional services are offered, including at least one form of bodywork, such as massage.
  • The spa operator and all their staff make a connection with the guest in body, mind and spirit.
  • The spa experience is delivered to guests through the vehicles of their five senses.
  • The guests’ expectations of wellness are met.
  • The business is driven with integrity and a commitment to quality.
